THE WAIT VS THE WEIGHT

There are times when we view our wait as a weight. We often desire things to come quickly or desire God to move on our timing, not realizing that the wait is either for us to mature in certain areas or because it’s simply not the right time for what we desire.

There is a difference between the two that should never be mistaken. What defines wait is staying where you are or delaying action until a particular time. What defines weight is holding down by pacing a heavy object on top of it.

In our time of waiting God doesn’t want us to feel like it’s a hardship.  There should never be a heaviness while waiting and the way to achieve this is by remembering that God’s promises are his promises.  He has our best interests at heart.  In 2 Corinthians 1:20 it reads “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”  Jesus was completely faithful in His ministry; He never sinned; He faithfully died for us and now He faithfully intercedes for us because he is faithful so if He said it then it’s going to happen. (Romans 8:34)

Use Sarah and Abraham for an example, God made a promise to Abraham that Sarah would give him a son despite her age and amid the promise there was a waiting season.

So, remember don’t let the promises of God that you are waiting for be a weight.  You must stay focused and worship while you wait.  Will there be distractions? Yes, the enemy seeks to distract you.  That’s where the weight tries to come in.  The enemy would like you to believe that you heard wrong, or you don’t deserve what you’ve asked God for.  Be aware of the devil’s tricks and schemes because he wants to hinder your growth.  The devil wants you to remain bound and not free so that you would give up on God.  In knowing this you must protect your heart from those temptable things that would draw you away from God’s presence.

Keep your focus on things eternal. Keep your focus on God’s constant love.  Seek spiritual strength.  Acknowledge that it's only for a little while.  Make sure to immerse yourself in the word of God, connect with other believers for support and encouragement, dedicate time to prayer asking God to settle your mind and keep you focused.  Sometimes you may even have to push your plate for the promise.  Ask God to reveal those areas in your life that cause distractions and hinder your relationship with him.

Recognize that waiting can be a test of faith, and the wait is not a weight. Remember His yoke is easy, and His burdens are light. Matthew 11:30
